"Academic freedom" or "academic liberty" is a freedom to teach as-see-fit based on the faculty member's preference and expertise in the field to best benefit the learners. The freedom may extend to choice of course and learning materials, assessment strategies, or any areas of teaching and learning.

iRubric promotes academic freedom by allowing faculty to build rubrics as they see fit for their courses, while it allows program and institutional administrators, assessment directors, accreditation managers, and institutional research and effectiveness staff to easily produce course, program and institutional reports.
