It has been known that to impress employers and school administrators, college students and graduates need to start thinking about providing them with details about themselves and the work they have done while in school, at internships and on jobs. This does not mean making a FaceBook or MySpace page, but rather a professional web site that provides employers and school administrators with the resources they need to make quality hiring and accepting decisions.

This is where RCampus ePortfolios come in. With this system, students and graduates have the ability to maintain lifelong ePortfolios with multiple pages, leaving a positive impression on potential employers and school administrators. These free and permanent web sites can be counted on for the rest of one’s life.

I just started using ePortfolios, building specific ones for specific purposes: one is home to my school work (link) and the other, my sample work (link). I had always been told that employers want to see a prospective employee’s sample work on a web site. However, one would need to have some technical ability in web design and create a domain name, which costs money. With RCampus ePortfolios, individuals like me can simply upload anything to their personal web site, easily designing it the way they desire. Best of all, membership is free, which makes RCampus a valuable resource for students like myself. Prior to using this online platform, I would have to email separate Microsoft Word documents of my resume and sample work to companies, but I am now able to share my background, resume, writing samples and blogs all in one location with employers.

Depending on the angle you want to achieve through the use of ePortfolios, these web sites offer ways to cater to the tastes of others. RCampus is the only system that encourages its users to build multiple ePortfolios, including personal, career, professional and learning ePortfolios. In my case, I have created two different presentation ePortfolios. These both display information about myself, though one of them presents my sample work for potential employers to view (link) and the other stores my school work (link). I am able to quickly organize, showcase and archive cumulative collections of my work in a digital layout. Everything is managed by me in this flexible environment, allowing me to be creative and control what I produce online. Collecting and managing everything related to my future career goals couldn't get any easier.
