Plan Navigator

Overview

The RCampus Plan Navigator is an administrative tool designed to present a clear, hierarchical view of all institutional plans. It offers an intuitive interface for navigating planning structures across the institution, from top-level administration to individual programs and units.

Purpose

The Plan Navigator is to:

  • View the complete institutional plan hierarchy.
  • Edit planning elements within the structure (admins only).
  • Access reports for individual programs or units (admins only).
  • Navigate to corresponding planning matrices for each unit.

Access and Permissions

  • Only administrators can edit the plan hierarchy.
  • Plans are viewable by other users only after full approval.
  • Each node includes links to its corresponding Planning Matrix where the actual planning and assessment work takes place.

Benefits

  • Simplifies institutional planning by providing an easy-to-use view of the entire planning structure and convenient access to individual plan components.
  • Allows administrators to manage and maintain institutional alignment from a single dashboard.

Using Plan Navigator

How to Access

  • From the main menu, select Planning > Plan Navigator.
  • Expand the hierarchy of units to locate the desired program or unit.
  • Click to open their plan.
  • You will see the plan and its components.
  • Admins can view and edit all plan details.
  • Other users can view only the structure and content of plans that have been fully approved.
  • If the user has permission, they can access the related Planning Matrix from within the Plan Navigator. Depending on their role, they may have editing or reviewing rights.

How to Creating a Planning Cycle (For Admins and Plan Facilitators)

  • Navigate to Matrices and choose:
    • My Matrices (if you are the matrix owner), or
    • Matrix Gallery
  • Open the desired matrix and click Assign....
  • Enter the name of the assessment or review cycle and fill in cycle, year, and other required fields. Click Save.
  • On the next page, select reviewers. (You can also do this later.) Click Continue.
  • Select the programs or units participating in the assessment and click Continue.
  • You will be redirected to the matrix settings page, where additional options can be configured.

How to Enter Plans (for Programs and Units)

  • Navigate to Planning > Planning Matrices.
  • Open the Submit tab to locate your assigned matrix.
  • Alternatively, go to Programs or Units and access your matrix.
  • Open any cell marked Not Started, Started, or Returned.
  • Complete the required information, then change the status to Submit to send it for review.

How to Review Plans (for Reviewers, facilitators, and admins)

  • Navigate to Planning > Planning Matrices.
  • Open the Assess tab to find your assigned matrix.
  • Alternatively, go to Programs or Units and navigate to the relevant entity.
  • Open the matrix and review the items assigned to you.
  • In each item’s matrix, look for cells marked Submitted.
  • Review the content and update the status to:
    • Return – sends the cell back to the program/unit for revision
    • Accept – finalizes the cell
    • (Other statuses may be used depending on your institution's process.)
