Competency-Based Education (CBE) is an educational approach that focuses on the mastery of specific skills and competencies rather than the traditional time-based system of learning. In CBE, students progress at their own pace, moving forward only when they have demonstrated a thorough understanding and ability to apply the knowledge and skills in real-world contexts. This method emphasizes outcomes and practical application, often providing a more personalized learning experience tailored to individual needs and goals. CBE is particularly popular in higher education and professional training, where it aims to ensure that graduates are truly prepared for their careers.
