A coursework is a learning module such as an assignment, class note, or project. A coursework can be assigned a due date, points, a rubic, and can be time-released. The time release feature allows faculty to set the date and time when the coursework title is released to students and/or data and time when the entier coursework content is released to students.


Coursework Types

Coursework is categerized into the following types. These types are for categorization purposes only and have no internal meaning to the system. For example, a term paper can be categorized as an assignment or writing. It is up to the instructor to interprete them based on their classroom usage.

 Exam  /  Hand out  /  Homework  /  Presenatation

Features of Coursework

Use coursework properties page to build coursework
  • Attach supporting documents and websites
  • Attach a rubric for assessment
  • Set whether coursework will be graded (coursework such as class notes are usually not graded)
  • Assign due date and due time
  • Assign number of points
  • Assign release time: faculty can decide when student see just the title or the entire content of the coursework
  • Set online submission settings
    • Can students submit online
    • Can students resubmit after a submission
    • Can students submit after due date
  • Assign the same coursework to multiple classes, each with different titles, due dates and scores
  • Reuse a coursework for a new class
  • Discuss a coursework with students using the attached discussion board
  • Grade student submissions using a rubric


How to Create a Coursework

  1. From classroom menu select coursework
  2. Select new coursework
  3. Enter information in the coursework properties page and press save


How to Edit a Coursework

You can change coursework title or content, online submission, rubric or grading settings, or multiple class assignment.

  1. From classroom menu select coursework
  2. Click on the coursework title to be edited. This will take you to the coursework properties page.
  3. Make any necessary changes and press save


How to Inactivate a Coursework

  1. From classroom menu select coursework
  2. Click on the coursework title to be inactivated. This will take you to the coursework properties page.
  3. Check the inactivate box and press save


How to Grade a Coursework

  1. Go to a class gradebook
  2. Select the coursework
  3. Enter grades. If a rubric is used, see Grade student coursework with rubrics
